Responsibility and leadership for overall maintenance shift, ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, provide premier customer service, develop a technically qualified work force, reduce operating costs, inventories and lead times through continuous improvement.  Oversee day-to-day activities to meet daily expectations. Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule between 2nd and 3rd shift hours.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Maintenance Manager
  • Supervises Maintenance team members on their assigned shift.
  • Ensures Safety of Maintenance Team Members by fostering a Safety First culture and affirms importance and compliance of team Members use of PPE and Safety related equipment.
  • Maintains work schedules in Time and Attendance and edits time cards as required, including scheduling and approving time off and vacations.  Schedules overtime, weekend and holiday coverage.
  • Creates, maintains, manages and assigns work orders as entered into QAD.
  • Is responsible for personnel skills assessment, development and training plans.  This is to include cross-functional training within our value streams.
  • Develops performance counseling notifications and conducts performance counseling meeting with associates under the direction of the Department Manager or the Human Resource Manager.
  • Ensures that scheduled preventative maintenance program is followed and completed on time in accordance with QAD system timelines.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that the Maintenance, office and related work areas are clean and organized according to APS standards.
  • Ensures that Team Members have necessary tools, equipment and parts to accomplish daily goals.
  • Attends shift to shift hand off meetings.
  • Attends production and planning meetings when required.
  • Provides support to operations on daily “Ready To Run Board” activities
  • Participates in Kaizen, KTM, KYT and special projects as directed by the Department Manager
  • May be required to train others.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)
Minimum of 5 years work related experience in an industrial environment.
Minimum of 3 years related supervisory experience in an industrial environment.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must possess good interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Must possess good written / verbal communication skills.
  • Basic experience with Windows software.

Supervisory Responsibilities

 This position has direct supervisory responsibility. 

Physical Demands/Environment

            While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
