Purchasing Coordinator (entry-level hourly position)

Purpose/Summary
Supports the preparation and procurement of authorized products from approved vendors. Additionally, the Purchasing Coordinator oversees the evaluation, negotiation, and execution of indirect purchasing activities for the manufacturing facility.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:
  • Ensure purchase order accuracy & supports MRO purchases.
  • Maintenance of crib inventory in QAD system, hands on crib inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Research and review potential new suppliers.
  • Place orders for manufacturing facility using credit cards, blanket purchase orders, and spot buys.
  • Enter requisitions in the system as needed in a support role.
  • Maintain and coordinate facility office supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)
  • Associate Degree or 2 years college (may be offset by extensive relevant experience).
 
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of Purchasing Systems and methods in manufacturing. 
  • Ability to work in a Team Environment. 
  • Working knowledge of Safety and Environmental consideration. 
  • Strong oral and written communications. 
  • Ability to judge priorities, negotiating skills, knowledge of inventory and production control, JIT, and forecasting. 
  • Proficiency with P.C. based software (QAD experience is a plus).
  • Willingness to stay on a problem through completion

            While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk/move; use hands & fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection.
