Purpose/Summary

Responsibility and leadership for overall operation of multiple value streams, ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, provide premier customer service, develop a technically qualified work force, reduce operating costs, inventories and lead times through continuous improvement.  Oversee day-to-day activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly expectations.

        

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Leads Business Unit Team(s) in the following areas:

Safety and Quality

  • Obtain specified department measurable based on plant goals objectives

Customer Schedules 

  • Maintain 100% on time delivery for OE and OES

Productivity

  • Support plant goals and objectives for specific department(s)
  • Achieve OA and Efficiency goals for specific department(s)

Cost

  • Maintain cost controls within budget – Participate in and achieve cost reduction activity specified by business need

Shift Coordinator Management and Development

  • Supports, provides information, guidance and training so that each coordinator is properly prepared to execute their respective shift’s responsibilities in safety, quality, productivity and associate leadership
  • Provide operational standards so that each shift functions seamlessly and consistent from shift to shift  
  • Prepares and conducts Annual Performance Reviews

 
Communication

  • Ensures effective communication with plant staff and other members of the management team,  Shift Coordinators, Team Leaders and resource departments

Associate Development

  • Identifies and supports Team Leaders and associates training and developmental needs
  • Provides feedback and counseling to archive desired level of performance

Akebono Production System (APS)

  • Effectively utilizes APS to attain the above stated targets
  • Can effectively support and mentor Shift Coordinators, Team Leaders and Associates on APS tools and supports kaizen activities in their respective business units
  • Manages schedules based on kanban
  •      Maintain specified staffing levels as provided by business plan
  •      Working knowledge of the Day Model including daily reviews of performance
  •      Working knowledge of attendance time management.
  •       Additional responsibilities as required

Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)

BS/BA in related field or relative work experience.

Minimum of five- (5) year’s work related experience.

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Three (3) years’ experience supervising individuals.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Must possess good written / verbal communication skills.
  • Basic experience with Windows software.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has direct supervisory responsibility. 

Physical Demands/Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand walk/move; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
