Superintendent

Purpose/Summary

Provide leadership for all aspect of the designated shift they are assigned.  Responsible for guiding leadership to the most efficient processing through required production operations, warehouse operations, forklift operations, and to maintain optimum delivery performance.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

  • Execute annual business plan for departments
  • Develop short and long term production and manpower strategies with functional department leadership.
  • Key member of plant leadership team determining production priorities and balancing customer service and costs.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures. Including ensuring all associates are certified according to current OSHA regulations
  • Review daily build schedules and ensure materials coverage for normal production, overtime and weekend work. Must anticipate line changes and have material ready to minimize downtime.
  • Works closely with manufacturing managers and customer service to develop production schedules that maximize on-time performance while balancing production output to agreed capacity levels.
  • Maintain an atmosphere conducive to the goals of the company within the department
  • Reports directly to Plant Manager

 

Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Materials Management, or Engineering related field preferred
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive high volume automotive supplier related manufacturing experience

 
 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong analytical / problem solving experience. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills.
  • Must have strong leadership experience in a managerial role, including the ability to mentor leadership teams.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software 
  • Must have excellent organizational skills

 
 
 
Supervisory Responsibilities

            This position has direct supervisory experience.  It will provide the team with direction and guidance to ensure projects are prioritized and planning processes provided are in place to ensure project deadlines are achieved.  This includes selecting and hiring associates, training and evaluating associates to enhance performance, development and work product, as well as, addressing performance issues and making recommendations for personnel actions

Physical Demands/Environment

            While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand walk/move; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection.
